FAQ

What makes Prime Mover unique to other existing migration and backup plugins?

  • The free version has no restriction on package size, number of websites, mode of migration (single-site or multisite will work). We don’t put that kind of restriction.
  • No need to delete your WordPress installation, create/delete database and all other technical stuff. This will save you a lot of time.
  • This is not hosting-dependent. Prime Mover is designed to work with any hosting companies you want to work with.
  • The free version has full multisite migration functionality. This feature is usually missing in most migration plugins free version.
  • This will work on any server modes. Whether you are migrating from your localhost, dev site or from a live site to another live site.
  • You will be doing the entire migration inside the WordPress admin. Anyone with administrator access can do it. No need to hire freelancer to do the job. This saves you money.
  • No messing with complicated migration settings, the free version has no settings on it. Only choose a few options to export and migrate, that’s it.
  • You can save, download, delete and migrate packages using the management page.
  • No need to worry about PHP configuration and server settings. Compatible with most default PHP server settings even in limited shared hosting.
  • Modern version PHP compatibility ( PHP 5.6 to 7.4).
  • Entirely coded in PHP-fig standards (its following standard PHP coding guidelines).
  • One of the lowest code risk among migration plugins – simply secure to use.
  • You don’t need to worry about setting up users or changing user passwords after migration. It does not overwrite existing site users after migration.

I was trying to move a sub-site of MultiSite to become a single site without 'destroying' or effecting MultiSite too much as I can 'delete' the subsite later. There was no plugin that work properly as this amazing plugins!!! VERY HAPPY 🙂 All the sliders, CSS changes, theme & plugins was 'moved' successfully to the new domain! And Look Perfect!! Woolah!!

I was wanting to take apart a multisite wp that was soooooooo slow - I kept getting told that it would cost me $100 per subsite or $200 for a plugin.... Then I found this amazing plugin - it worked a treat and saved me $$$$$s . Thnaks folks.

My hosting was part of the problem yet they wanted nothing to do with helping me export a single website out of a multisite. Setting up a multisite? Turning a single website into a multisite? Piece of cake! Migrating / Cloning a single sub-site from a multisite with media, URL links attached, and multiple layers of database table to export and revise felt like moving a 6 story house by myself! There are some other expensive options out there but Prime Mover was the only plugin that had a free one-click option that actually worked! I opted for the free version not knowing if this would work and let it run over night. I woke up and to find my computer had "shut down due to an error" and felt like crying a little. After startup I immediately went to the Prime Mover plugin and saw nothing. It felt like a long shot but I went to the website and it was all completely there, 100%! All the plugins, images, everything! I of course immediately backed up, used Regenerate Thumbnails to remove the mess my theme had recreated, cached everything, and website was good as new! If you're an agency or freelance web developer and like the multisite setup but need to export sub-sites to a single site directory, I would highly suggest this plugin! Opt for the pro if you are using it for this purpose so you don't lose customers, the standard version is very slow but it is also very free and works perfect. This is an honest review, I have no relation to this company, I'm just stoked!

I have used the free version a dozen times or so. I have used the pro version three times, for the same somewhat large and complex site. I found the plugin easy to install and use. Although I did have problems, most and perhaps all of them stemmed primarily from my inexperience with the environment to which I was moving the WordPress blog (Amazon Web Services). Even so, the plugin developer supported me every step of the way, above and beyond the call of duty! The upgrade from Prime Mover 1.0.5 to 1.0.6 really seemed to help with the large site -- server timeouts were eliminated with 1.0.6, without any need for reconfiguration on the server side. Two pro features turned out to be very helpful for me: 1) The ability to exclude files from the export ("export filters"). There was one very large file (1.3GB) which I didn't even need on the target site. It was convenient to simply exclude it, speeding up both the export and the import. 2) Even nicer for me was the "Restore backup zip from a remote URL" feature when I was importing the large site. Using this feature, I first FTP'd the Prime Mover export file to a location on AWS (an S3 bucket). Then when I did the restore (import) it took minutes instead of hours. This made the whole process more reliable and convenient. I could also use this feature to maintain online backups of my site, allowing relatively quick recovery in case of a serious problem. I migrated from single-site to multisite and vice versa multiple times, and this worked flawlessly. (The target systems on AWS were Bitnami WordPress AMIs.) I did sometimes have to do some minor "fix-ups" after import. For instance, on one occasion many of the links in WordPress page content ended up using the IP address of the target rather than the domain name. This didn't seem to cause any actual problems, but nevertheless I fixed it with a search-and-replace in the WordPress database using phpmyadmin. All in all, I highly recommend the plugin and the developer.

This plugin worked very well, and when I had any questions I was able to get incredible, fast, hands-on customer support. I'm thrilled with it and I'd buy it again! Highly recommend.
