Post Type Switcher

Omschrijving

This plugin adds a simple post-type drop-down to the post editor interface, allowing you to reassign any post to a new post type. It allows you to switch post’s type while editing your post.

Supported Types

The plugin can convert nearly every combination of posts, pages, and even custom post types:

  • Page to Post
  • Post to Page
  • Post to Custom
  • Custom to Custom

As of 3.0.0, support for switching to or from Attachments was removed. This may come back in a subsequent version.

Invisible post types, such as revisions, menus, etc., are purposely excluded. But, if you need to access invisible post types, you can adjust the boundaries using the ‘pts_post_type_filter’ filter.

Bulk Editing

With bulk editing (thanks to Matthew Gerring) you can select all the posts in a certain type and convert them to a new type with one quick action.

Block Editor

With block-editor (aka Gutenberg) support (thanks to Daniel Bachhuber) you can switch between post-types that use either the Block Editor and the Classic one, without losing any of your embedded content.

FAQ

Why would I need this?

You need to selectively change a posts type from one to another.

Does this ruin my taxonomy associations?

It should not. This plugin only changes the ‘post_type’ property of a post.

I had multiple post types I needed to combine and I was dreading the process of doing it manually or writing a custom script to handle it. This plugin solved my problem in seconds!

When you effectively use this plugin to convert from a page to an article you make a total mess. Let me explain - firstly the category becomes blank, and it doesn't even go to uncategorized or let you select it, so you can't even filter the pages you just transformed to articles. Annoying, but could do. What I really can't work with is that it doesn't change the template from page to post, if you try to open your newly transformed "post" after you switched it from being a page, the template will still have "page type-page" in the class, therefore using your (potentially) customized styles inherited from pages and not posts, plus on top of that, which is even worse, sidebar won't show up either because of that (at least, on TwentySeventeen theme, but I think on others too). Big nope unfortunately, good effort but not tweaked properly to be actually useful, uninstalling.

4 days ago I installed it and changed a post into a page, this was what I wanted. But it removed the design part. No matter how hard I tried only text was appearing. I tried different ways to create new pages, but even on new pages I could not achieve the desired design with all methods e.g. manually creating blocks, importing templates, using templates of other pages. Nothing worked. So many errors were coming, either button's only text would appear, or heading's would appear with smaller font size and many more Even after I deactivated this plugin, the design is still behaving crazy and unpredictable. 1. All the blocks become part of the first block that I create 2. At few places, only button's text is appearing 3. Heading font's appear at diffrently. (though I have set universal font size for different headings) 4. Surprisingly when I duplicate heading or button block (so I put where it is not appearing correctly), The new button would appear with the correct size but the old button or heading will get disfigured. It is happening so randomly that I am not even able to write problem properly. I think this plugin made some changes in database because of which these errors have become permanent after removing this plugin. I spent 3 long days trying to correct the appearance of a single page (I created new one, after copy-pasting from my old blog). Yet it is nothing near what I expected. The bigger problem is because it is happening to every new page I try to create, It has become a permanent problem on my website The only relief is, design of older pages is not distorted. Can somebody help me correct it?
