WordPress Form Builder Plugin – Gutenberg Forms

WordPress Form Builder Plugin – Gutenberg Forms

Existing form plugins do not allow you to build your forms within Gutenberg Editor. They offer mostly custom made form builder which was a great feature earlier. But with the Gutenberg editor, you should be able to build your forms directly in the Gutenberg editor.

That’s why we built Gutenberg Forms. This is the next generation WordPress form builder plugin. You can easily build your forms by adding form fields as gutenberg blocks within the Gutenberg Editor. You do not need to leave the editor to build your forms using some other drag & drop form builder. Now you can build your form within Gutenberg editor using Gutenberg Forms.

Gutenberg Forms adds a Form Block in Gutenberg and all the form fields are child blocks which you can add within the Form Block, nice and easy. You can add multiple contact forms, and you can customize the form within the Gutenberg Editor. Google reCAPTCHA integration added for spam filtering.

Get involved with the Development

This is a new plugin and I am committed to making it one of the best Form Builder plugin for WordPress. But, for that, I need your support to test & contribute. I just want you to test out the plugin and report any bugs you found and suggest features you wish to be added to it. And, if you are a coder and wish to contribute to this Opensource Form Builder you are welcome to get involved via Github.

Template and Pattern Library

Gutenberg Forms now includes access to the Extendify template and pattern library that can be accessed by clicking the “Library” button in the menu bar of the editor. We provide a variety of templates and patterns to serve different use cases and are adding more templates every week.
Note: Templates and patterns rely on blocks and styling applied by the Editor Plus plugin. The Editor Plus plugin is required when importing a template or pattern. If you uninstall Editor Plus, the templates and patterns will still display on your site, but the styling may be affected. Additionally, stock images included in the templates are hosted on GutenbergHub.com. We recommend replacing the images or adding them to your media library directly.

Gutenberg Forms uses a custom API to fetch templates and patterns from the Extendify template and pattern library. To improve the service and stability we store logs which may contain the following:

  • browser type
  • referring site
  • date and time of request
  • category selection or search term
  • anonymized IP address

API requests are only made when a user clicks on the Library button.

Saw Extendify - Instant delete! Sneaks unwanted extensions into the editor. I can understand why some sell to Freemius. But extendify feels so scummy. Especially when it only is mentioned way down the page, like they don't want everyone to know where the extendify pest comes from. Took me a while to find the reason. And that the homepage doesn't exist any more, doesn't inspire confidence.

The form building process - right in the editor, or as reusable ones - are awesome. The Conditions and the Multi Step options are not perfect - not working as expected. That was what I was looking for when installed. The problem is initially selected options as radio buttons or select dropdown. The do not get registered, and it goes undetected until submission, that they have no value. This makes the Conditions not detect their value, and therefore cannot work. I have a support question for this - so far unanswered. When fixed - this plugin will get my full five star rating.

Have just found out that Caldera Forms, one of the last decent free form builders, is sunsetting and so need to find something that is competitive and expandable. Gutenberg Forms seems like a great initiative and it would be great if we can better understand how we can contribute and extend this work - for example develop hooks and other exciting functions. Keep up the good work.
