Likely because they were custom post types generated by another plugin I was using – anyways, I wanted the page title to just be the title without the ‘Archives:’ bit at the front of it. Find it in your Add Plugins area. Search for it by name. Install and Activate. You’re done. No fussing with theme files or digging into code. Apparently this will remove ‘Category:’, ‘Tags:’ etc. as well.
